Phnom Penh, Cambodia — Joscel Barrio Delos Cielos, Chairman and Chief Business Officer of Apeiron , recently represented the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA®) at the 140th ASEAN Federation of Accountants (AFA) Council Meeting held on May 30-31, 2025, in Phnom Penh.
The two-day regional conference and council meeting gathered top finance and accounting leaders from ASEAN and around the world to align on AI and technology best practices, ethics, and the evolving role of the profession in a fast-changing economic landscape.
Delos Cielos’s participation in the council meeting highlighted the importance of the finance and accounting role in business, other than the tax and audit perspectives.
“It was an honor to represent IMA in such a meaningful dialogue that tackles the profession from the lenses of the government, public, private and the academe,” Delos Cielos shared. “Participation in the ASEAN Federation of Accountants is also close to my heart being a Filipino.”
The event was attended by prominent figures such as H.E. Dr. Ngy Tayi, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Cambodia; Jean Bouquot, President of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC); and other representatives of professional accounting organizations, including fellow Filipino Jill Santos, who represented the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA).
